Home care services help you stay independent and in your home
Available services include assistance with household tasks like cleaning and laundry, medication management, meal preparation, transport for appointments or activities, personal care activities like showering, dressing and toileting, home maintenance, home modifications like rails and ramps, shopping, carer respite and social support.
If you only require help with daily tasks or `entry level care’ you can access Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services. If you have more complex needs and would like more flexible, tailored support as well as some ongoing case coordination, a Home Care Package would be more suitable.
Both CHSP services and home care packages require a formal government assessment to access and will require you to pay a co-contribution.
Private services are widely available and can be used to supplement government subsidised services or fill the gap if you are waitlisted.
